Tuning into EWTN on my rabbit ears fed television, I am watching a film from what must be the early 1950s of a Catholic Mass, glorified with superimposed lyrics of the liturgical song.

Much of this station's programming is dominated by footage tinged with age.

That is not to say that the network's offerings are less than high quality. They are.

Many of the contemporary programs are quite "contemporary".Image

But it seems to me that the programming overview of EWTN is making a conscious effort to project a classic and traditional image of Roman Catholicism. Such is probably the wish of Pope John Paul The Great and is most certainly the wish of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. Good days lie ahead for the faithful.
