What is it about liberals and wanting to ban everything under the sun that might be remotely fun?  From smoking bans to children playing tag on playgrounds there isn't much they won't go after in the name of politcal correctness or furthering the reach of the nanny state.  As Molossus noted in his earlier post the Minneapolis City Council is considering banning wild circus animals from performing in the city which would most likely result in the loss of many dollars bound for the local Shrine Children's Hospital.  So much for the left's typical rally cry of "It's for the children!"

But what really bothers me about this story is the fact that the council is considering this at all at this point in time.  What with bridges falling and crime rampant downtown one might think they may have more important business at hand than pandering to a small group of nutcases that want to impose their miserable existences on the rest of us.  Rather than banning circus animals how about they begin to focus on the groups of animals hanging out on Hennepin and First Avenues harrassing and intimidating pedestrians and motorists?  Oh, but that wouldn't be politically correct to go after the "under privileged class" now would it?

What used to be a really fun and great city has degraded into a crime-ridden bore and the residents of Minneapolis have no one to blame but themselves for electing their socialist leaders.
