News From Hell's Kitchen

Senator Ann Rest (D-45), in her weekly update reports that she wants Global Warming solutions for the next legislative session. She wants an energy plan which will “reduce greenhouse gas emissions statewide without compromising energy availability (or) increasing the cost of energy for consumers.”

In short, I want everything, I want someone else to pay for it and I want it now!

Our children would be swatted for such insolence, but Ms. Rest is an esteemed elected official whose opinions are weighed on the scales of logic, reason and critical analysis (sarcasm added). The question I would ask any DFLer is whether global warming skeptics (known in academia and journalism as global warming deniers) will be allowed to voice our doubts to a legislative body? From what I have been able to glean from anecdotal sources like Rep Marty Seifert, R-Marshall, only members of the global warming choir have been permitted, thus far, to weigh in on the “debate.”

Ms. Rest went on in her update to voters by invoking faith. She said “we are called upon to be stewards of the earth, both as people of faith and as policy makers" (emphasis added).

Jesus, the implication seems to be, would be a believer in global warming if He were able and willing to cast a vote.

Hmmmm. Seems to me that in Jesus’ admonitions to us about the ‘end of days’ He said little about the kind of global warming Ms. Rest is suggesting – at least not the kind provoked by SUV’s. The kind of warming He warned of was less of a slow boil and more of a flash fry.
