C.S. Lewis: A timeless reminder of good and evil

Written by Derek Brigham on 13 October 2004.

C.S. Lewis captured the contrast of observations of good and evil and the ability of various people to do so with these words:

"When a man is getting better he understands more and more clearly the evil that is still left in him. When a man is getting worse, he understands his own badness less and less....Good people know about both good and evil: bad people do not know about either."

This simple wisdom can be applied to any one man, but also to systems, governments and even cultures. Lewis has been a powerful force in the development my faith and his words are a great weapon of reason and morality in the culture war. Arm yourself by picking up The Complete C.S.
