Needless to say gun owners everywhere are celebrating today's ruling by SCOTUS which affirms that firearm ownership is indeed and individual right.
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
The 5-4 ruling was a little too close for comfort but not surprising. One could have predicted that the socialist block of justices (Stevens, Souter, Breyer and Ginsburg ) would rule against an individual right but fortunately at this point in time we have a one justice advantage of those who wish to interpret vs legislate from the bench. Still thinking about sitting out this year's election cycle because of McCain? What do you think the outcome would have been if Al Gore or John Kerry were in office over the past 8 years and their picks for justices were sitting on the bench? What kind of justices would/will Obama put forth if he is elected POTUS? Elections do matter, even if you do have to hold your nose while marking your ballot. I may just have to head off to the range to celebrate!
