No doubt this year has been tough on many levels for many people. We have or know others who've lost jobs, loved ones, and confidence in our elected leadership. But those with strong ties to their faiths have a cornerstone of support that brings hope and confidence in the future, and are happy to share it in creative ways.
Every year, my husband and I with another couple tour neighborhoods to see lights and decorations. One of our favorite stops is a home on Gramsie Road near Bethel College that every year installs a metal sculpture in the front yard complete with lights. Last year it was a 12-foot long clipper ship, the year before a sea serpent. We drove there first, guessing what this year's sculpture would be. We found the house but the yard was dark, and the only lit object was a tree inside the home (before it was the sculptor's Eiffel Tower). We four were audibly disappointed, and wondered what became of the sculptor. Did he move or pass away? Somewhere, we hope that his sculptures are displayed, and hope that he knows how many enjoyed driving by to admire them. If anyone knows the story on this artist, please let me know in the comments section.
While doing an online search for him, I found this site from the Fischer family in Plymouth. Every year this family decks their halls, yard and roof with lights and more:
