Why
Major Business Associations To Endorse Paulsen Tomorrow PDF Print E-mail

More good news for Erik Paulsen from his communications chief, Stacey Johnson tonight.

ST. PAUL- Tomorrow morning top business leaders will hold a press conference to announce several major business endorsements for Representative Erik Paulsen, candidate for Congress in the Third District.  They will speak to the endorsements, but also to the fact that Paulsen has the proven record of results and deliverables when it comes to business issues; and why he is the right choice to represent the Third District in Congress, in contrast to Ashwin Madia.

Each participant of this press conference brings with them a different perspective of the business world, therefore, providing comments on a wide range of issues.  In these times of economic turmoil, having a representative with a commonsense fiscal perspective is crucial.

WHO:             4 BUSINESS LEADERS - 3 MAJOR ENDORSEMENTS

WHAT:           PRESS CONFERENCE

WHEN:           THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2008, 11 AM

WHERE:         STATE OFFICE BUILDING, ROOM 181
100 REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BLVD.,  ST. PAUL, MN 55101

The names of the business leaders were not provided in the press release, but I doubt the modifier major would be thrown around loosely by the Palusen campaign. In today's economic climate, I can not imagine businesses, large or small, in a genuinely competitive market favoring a liberal tax-happy candidate like Ashwin Madia.

UPDATE: TwinWest is a part of the deal. I almost wrote about the TwinWest chamber yesterday since I have been hearing that they are taking a considerably more conservative direction in light of the DFL's 2007 tax excesses and the tough economy. Now it can be said that Paulsen has indeed bagged 3 major business players here:

ST. PAUL- In a press conference earlier today at the State Capitol, 3 major business associations, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, TwinWest Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Businesses, announced their endorsement for Representative Erik Paulsen, candidate for Congress in the Third District.

Bruce Nustad, President of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce commented that part of the endorsement process was based on the debate hosted in August.  “In the end, we recognized that Erik Paulsen has a solid record of support on business issues.  Time and time again, Erik has stood by and advocated for policies that promote the growth of jobs and the growth of our communities.”

“Erik Paulsen is a champion for the people of Minnesota and an invaluable leader on important business issues,” said Doug Loon, the U.S. Chamber’s vice president of regional affairs. “On issues ranging from lowering taxes to greater fiscal responsibility, Minnesota’s business community will have no better friend in Washington than Erik Paulsen.”

“When we talk about increasing taxes on small businesses, it does have a resounding effect, not just as small business owners, but also how we interact with our community, our own customers.   Mr. Madia, through his comments has demonstrated that he is interested in raising taxes on small businesses; this is not the route to take in these economic times.  The choice is clear, Erik Paulsen will protect businesses and taxpayers from job-killing tax increases,” said Tim Malooly, small business owner, Irrigation by Design MN.

Matt Carpenter, member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses said, “Erik Paulsen has been a champion for small business here in the legislature and I know he will continue to fight for us in Washington.  He has proved to me in the past that he will listen and act on issues to deliver results to his constituents.”
