Great Expectations

Written by Yappy on 21 January 2009.

"Reality," it is said, "is all in how you look at it."   So it is that we see great expectations-- supernatural, really-- being laid like laurel wreaths on the Obama Presidency, now just one day old.  Everyone looks at these things differently, of course, and everyone does so, I think, in a way reflective of their world view and general disposition.  Thus it is that I have settled my expectations for The One at the level of:  everything he ever does will be wrong.  I know that is an unlikely situation, because not even Obama is a perfect fool.  Nobody's perfect.  But this outlook permits me the occasional pleasant surprise rather than a constant string of disappointments and outrages. I think that's better for mental health, which may be the only thing many of us have left four years from now.
