Finally getting around to watching "It Might Get Loud" doc with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White. A wonderful tribute to roots guitar.
There has been some confusion regarding my earlier post, but I based my assertions on a press release from the office of State Representative Marty Seifert. Seifert writes:
The $4 billion of tax increases from Democrats could be divided up in many ways if you divide it straight up, it would be well over $1,000 per taxpayer in this fiscal period. It goes up more for couples and families as there are only 5 million people that life in this state. Many are on fixed incomes.
So, if you read it closer, the words fiscal period should translate into biennium. This would mean that tax increases would amount to $500 per taxpayer, per year.
These are the numbers Jason Lewis has been broadcasting. Seiferts numbers dovetail with them - if you place them both under the microscope. $1000 per fiscal period, per voter translates into $500 per year, per voter. We must be careful when citing these sorts of numbers to make certain that the debate is not construed as intentionally misleading. The facts, when allowed to stand on their own are damning enough. The explosion of proposed taxes scream for an interpretation. Here it is:
Dems are drunk, intoxicated with their own self-importance. They believe they have been given a mandate from voters to raid the liquor cabinet. Will voters notice the drunken fools in their living rooms or will they simply turn up the volume and try to ignore the carnage?
Stay tuned.
