Dems in NJ Leave Barn Door Open

Written by The Big Stink on 01 April 2008.

Let’s let government do for health care what it has done for education.  The state of New Jersey’s auditor recently released a report on their state children’s health insurance plan (S-CHIP).  Turns out that the good citizens of New Jersey have been scamming the system.  There are nearly as many adults in the system as kids!  And, it’s a bonafide budget buster!

Rather than go through the details of the whole report, I will link it here, from Michelle Malkin’s blog.

The defect isn’t in the intent.  The intent has never been brought into question.  The devil, as always, is in the details.  The state enacted this bold program, but left the door wide open for any cheater, scammer, interloper or free-lunch artist.  Of course, lawmakers had no structure built into the system to police the cheaters.

And, it appears it may be too late for taxpayers to close the barn door!  Can you say recipe for disaster?

As with education, the cries from the dems will be to shovel more money at it.  I have a better solution:  Rather than “fix” the situation by adding untold new layers of state bureaucracy, the voters of New Jersey need to evict the tenants of the statehouse this November.

Here's the money quote: “The audit’s findings are very troubling,” said Assemblyman Richard Merkt, R-Morris. “They call into serious question the state’s competence to run health insurance programs.”

Will the lesson be learned?  Stay tuned.
