Democrats have proven, in my humble assessment at least, that they are not even half as clever as they assume they are.  It is the nature of liberals to overestimate their own intelligence, and underestimate that of others, thereby justifying their "natural right" to tell us all how to live our lives.  Thus it is that I find myself searching for a reason why Democrat tactics often seem so diabolically clever.   Case in point, the economy.

  •   PE-Obama "talks down" the economy.
  •   Congress talks down specific sectors of the economy.
  •   The MSM (Yes, they are Democrats, too) predict DEPRESSION.
  •   Congress says we need more regulation.
  •   They all insist that "only government stimulus" can save us.

Taken individually, none of these actions make any sense, either for a Party which will soon hold full responsibility for the government, or for people who want the best for their country (which I've always considered questionable, anyway).  But look at what happens when you put all of them together.

  •   Anything that depresses the economy before Obama takes office is automatically George Bush's fault.
  •   If the economy improves over the devastated state it is now in, Obama and Democrats will take all the credit.  If it somehow continues to decline, it will be a situation "inherited" from Bush.
  •   If Republicans try to block any part of Obama's plan, even if it passes, the failure of the economy will automatically be ENTIRELY the fault of the Republicans.
  •   If the economy improves, before OR after the Democrats "act," on anything, they get all the credit.

It is absolutely unfair, both to Republicans and the nation as a whole, but it is deviously clever.  It can only be instinct.  The question is:  since Republicans are actually smarter and actually DO care about the country, what do we do now?
