Franken's Take on Kagan "Sketchy"

Written by Nancy LaRoche on 30 June 2010.

It seems more are watching Al Franken than Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan during her Senate nomination hearing. Fox News and AP captured our Senator sketching a cartoon of Sen. Jeff Sessions during the questioning:

Al Franken, the onetime comedian and current Democratic senator from Minnesota, used his position on the vaunted Judiciary Committee on Tuesday to doodle a lifelike bust of Sen. Jeff Sessions, the committee's ranking Republican, as Sessions raked Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan over the coals.

But it wasn't all fun and games for the former "Saturday Night Live" star — Franken also found time to get in a good nap during the first day of hearings Monday.

There is a need for more talented courtroom sketch artists lately. Franken is also noted for drawing the U.S. Map, which is impressive:

One might gather that he probably spent more time doodling than studying in school, and wonder how seriously he takes Kagan's nomination hearing. Draw your own conclusions.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
