A Simple Compromise

Written by Yappy on 18 May 2010.

As liberal politicians suffer a decrease in political favor, one can almost chart the corresponding increase in the wailing about "partisanship" and a "failure to compromise."  Mona Charen's column today provides us with an impetus for establishing, with mathematical certainty, what a proper bipartisan compromise ought to be.  Let us assume that one party wishes to spend $6 billion more than the taxpayers have paid in.  The other party, for principled as well as purely practical reasons, wishes to spend ZERO dollars more than are available.  It is perfectly clear that the simple, sensible compromise here is to have zero increased spending, especially since the one party has already compromised by not asking for even LESS to be spent.  Really, what is all the fuss about, when it's really that simple?
